At the southeastern end of the peninsula, Sithonia, is one of the oldest villages of Halkidiki Sykia.
With a population of more than 3,000 residents, is (via Sarti) 160 km. From Thessaloniki.
Prevailing version of the name is the shadow of the imposing Mount Athos that shrouds the village at sunrise.
The architecture of the village and above the old town, has several elements in common with that of Mount Athos. The relations of the village of Mount Athos is very old, when in the area were dependencies (single properties) that supported the economies of the monasteries.
Sight is the "Cuckoo", rocky and tall hill, surrounded by castle and probably there was an important prehistoric settlement. The villagers engaged in fishing, farming, beekeeping and tourism. The area is full of wonderful coastline. Kriaritsi, Tourkolimano, Kalamitsi, Kriaritsi, Marathias, Klimataria are few.
All these beautiful beaches are located at the foot of Itamos, a mountain with several roads and paths to earn in the forest.
